CHOLANGIOCARCINOMA
Bile Duct Cancer
Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare cancer. Of the top eight deadliest cancers, seven are rare. Rare cancers have a 5-year survival rate under 50% with the cholangiocarcinoma 5-year survival rate being approximately 20%1.
There are three types of cholangiocarcinoma: Intrahepactic, extrahepactic and perihilar, and the mortality rate has increased dramatically in the last decade. According to a recent study, it is estimated that by 2040, liver and bile duct cancer will be the third deadliest cancer in the United States.
More than 10,000 Americans are newly diagnosed with this deadly cancer. Cholangio Heroes is a podcast to raise awareness about the disease and the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
